In what was sure to be an event that is talked about for years to come, Menscer Motorsports clients Charles Hull and Joel Greathouse captured victories in Holt, Florida last weekend.
Holt, FL. is where Emerald Coast Dragway is located, and operated by “The Diesel Guy” Ryan Milliken. Ryan is well known for his beautiful green and black Chevy Nova that is diesel powered, and one of the quickest cars in the history of X275. He was hosting an event called Coastal Mayhem over the Memorial Day weekend that was headlined by X275 and Ultra Street classes.
The race was an X275 and Ultra National Points Championship event as well, and there were very high expectations going into the event. It was going to be a test for not only the track, but the drivers as well. The daytime temperatures were approaching triple digits, and the track temp at one point was near 140 degrees. Both Friday and Saturday Ryan did something that everyone seems to fear, he brought in the local firetruck and hosed down both lanes. Immediately dropping the temperature of the track more than 20 degrees. Once that was complete and dried up, it was time for some evening racing.
Charles was the first one down on Friday night in Q1 and ripped off a pass in the 4.40’s, showing everyone on the property that the track had the teeth to throw a tune at it. Joel wasn’t far behind in Ultra, as usual he was the most consistent car all weekend. Both of the KBX powered Mustangs tore the place up and landed in the winner circle on Saturday night. It was a repeat of what we saw in Orlando last year, when they both took home wins.
We at Menscer Motorsports are proud to have both of them as part of the family that trusts us with their shock needs. Every weekend in drag racing there are racers like Charles, Joel, and maybe even you reading this, that are out there competing for the win, and we believe in celebrating those victories. So congratulations to Charles, Joel, KBX, and also Justin McChesney & Ben Thomas who are an integral part of both teams on winning the first ever Coastal Mayhem race.
